What I'd do is use a cheap dye, to "test" the armour and see the dye-able areas, and then if you like, use the expensive.

I deffinetly agree with this. There are too many suits out there with small dye spaces. Gladiator armor for warriors is what annoys me. I want to dye the whole thing black but at best I can dye only a few spots.

I DON'T think it works. I have 3 DIFFERENT REPRESENTATIONS of what my shield should look like in one screenshot. WTF? It needs to be like EQ and show what the outcome will be before the dye is used. That would fix the problem.

I liked how NWN used the dye system. Maybe they could do something like that for the game.

I checked recently, and that is just standard dye-trader price, and therefore, a complete rip-off

Black dye seems rare, but my mezmer got 2 of them in pre, I dyed her armor in post. What I have noticed with armors is that the entire armor isn't dyed, there are dyable part. For example, your druid leggins. I noticed on mine that it was a small part, almost unnoticable. However, teh chest piece dyed just fine.

Black dyes costs between 1600 and 1765 gp, depending on how many that has bought them the latest 24 hours. You buy them at Dye Traders for this price, if you happen to find a black dye sold by a player then perhaps it can be cheaper, but not much less.

I've used black dyes on some part of my equipment and it has worked just fine.

To those who think 1600 + is much to buy stuff for, why is it so? You don't have to buy much else than that. In other games you have to buy runes frequently to be able to level, but GWO is not like that. You update your items with crafting and dyes to get the equipment you want. Black dyes are rare, so why can't they cost 1600?

Perhaps they should add an item 'Dye extracter'. Its something similar to dye remover, except, this time, you get to undo the dye you dyed on your armor. Say you dyed it silver, didnt like how it was, use the extracter to get back your silver dye. Hows it sound?

If you sell black dye to a dye trader, it sells for over 1300g so to pay a little more than that isnt so bad if you really want it...

Monks, Eles, Mesmers are the only ones you should bother dying armor with. Ranger + Warriors have little place that the dye takes effect. Last week black dye was going for 650, I bought 3 for some guild members, saved myself 3K
